Well, here she is, my latest Chevrolet. Incase anyone was wondering, I thought I'd give the run down. I know you guys like those before pics as much as I do so here's a front and back shot.

The new car smell is long gone but she's a good builder for sure.

Checking numbers shows that the car is all original and has most if not all of it's original parts. The car is an early build 10/65 and date codes are correct.

It has a 275hp 327 w/Rochester 4 bbl and powerglide. A 12 bolt rear underneath but just as my luck would have it, not a posi. (ratio unknown at this time) Car is Danube blue metallic (very dark blue) with a light blue interior.

It's showing 99,000 and appears to have been taken care of in it's day. Almost everything works, doors are tight with no sag, all 6 windows operate like day 1.

Pros:

327 275hp-very peppy! :p
Camel hump heads (unfortunately not the 2.02 variety, these are 1.94/1.50)
Has most if not all of it's original parts.
Power steering
Power brakes
Powerglide jumps right into gear like a new one would!
12 bolt rear
No play in steering
Interior panels are very nice
Has all original light blue seat belts, front and rear in good condition
Glass is good-except windshield-laminations are seperating, should be replaced for cosmetic reasons.
Has most of it's chrome and most is useable. Plus is all 4 wheel well molding in good condition! (that never happens to me)
Car seems to have been taken care of in it's life.
Body not bad-typical rust but nothing extreme and nothing structural-fairly easy fix
Solid rockers both inner and outer
Good floors
Good frame
Nothing has been hacked or modified. Nothing cut, drilled, folded, spindled or mutilated. :D

Cons:

Engine smokes -this may be cured yet without a major rebuild-fingers are crossed
no posi :cry
Needs exhaust
right fender bender-needs fender and bumper
trunk should be replaced-not real bad but...
headliner hanging down due to threads failing-might try my luck at sewing yet! :D
Dash pad has disintegrated
Seat covers ripped.

That's a few goods and bads. I hope you enjoyed the tour of Project '66. I really like the car. It definetly deserves a second chance at life and I'm gonna give it to her. This will be a very fun car to drive when it's done.

Great score Bob :brow

That 66 doesn't know how lucky it is to have a new daddy. :love

Be very very careful with the fender lip trim and the chrome trim that runs the length of the car.
If these are salvageable it will save you a bundle because to replace these is very expensive. I don't know of any re-pops.
Take your time when removing them.

Have fun...you are definitely following my lead......

"in addition to......not instead of"

BJ :clap

Bob:

Nice start!

I sometimes forget how nice those '66s look. Don't see 'em around here very much. I think my buddy Mike has either a '65 or a '66 (or both!) for parts. I recall them both being 2 door cars. Let me know what's on your wish list and I'll ask him. He's pretty fair.

Best,
TomK
