Well, the new shop is really coming arounds now. I found a real good used commerical door and it looks like I'll have the building weather tight by the time the snow flies up here in the cold country( No , not Canada ,but cold anyway)
I have the two post lift on order and scheduled to arrive in about 3 weeks.
Then there is the little problem of electric, heat and insulation. I think they are going to wait till next year.
Have a great day

Jester:
Remind us what size you are building, I forgot. Did you go with a gravel floor or concrete? I noted that the cost of metal has skyrocketed. Did that affect your building, or had you already purchased it (I recall it being metal, correct?)
Good luck with the construction and the finishing of various subsystems!
I am meeting with a contractor and an architect on Monday to continue my quest for a 40' by 60'. As has everything else, this has gotten wayyyy too complicated (and expensive). I hope to be under roof by the time the snow flies around here, but that could be February :)
Cheers,

The building I built is a 25' X 40' Quonset Hut. It has 14" interior ceiling. 3,640 nuts and bolts. I purchased the building one week before the cost of steel went up 20%, Same story with the lift. If your considering purchasing a lift , do it now, the cost will be $400.00 next week
As for the floor, I went with a monolithic pour of concrete ( 5" 4000lbs mix) My cost of construction was down because my wife and I built it ourself in about 7 weeks by working an hour or two after work and weekends . If you have 5 guys that are handy you cam build one of these over the weekend.
Thanks for asking and good luck with your project .
