Am still using stock headers on my 348. Any leads on a outfit that makes a good set of headers, company name, e-mail address. Was looking at Sanderson street rod headers. Any advice on fit, quality or if blockhugger are the way to go. Looks like there would be more constrictions on blockhuggers.
Any and all help would be appreciated. :help :help Thanks......Russ

Russ, unless there is absolutely no way of proper headers clearing your chassis, block luvers should be avoided. They will not provide anywhere near the performance gain of a genuine set of headers.
The Wilson/Belanger design in 1 3/4" tube that Show Cars is marketing is the best that has ever been built for your application :deal

The dougs Tri Y header is a good choice for the 348 or low performance 409. It's a way for you to get bottom and mid range power with a cam in the 224/234 @ .050" lift at a conservative ( 1500 to 5600) RPM. If your headed for the street races and an occasional blast down the strip the Tri Ys are my choice. ;)

russ,
check out these headers. Kind of pricy but look very nice. Anyone here use these?http://www.stahlheaders.com/Frame%20New%20Drag.htm

Pat, I'm not sure to WHOM Stahl manages to sell those these days... One tube over frame ( unnecessary ). But the real problem ... it appears that they extend and exit straight back, under the frame of the car. DEFINITELY not suitable X frame headers. Might have been OK when the cars were setup with the front ends up, but they'd basically drag on the ground on a normal car.
Just a little overpriced too
Show Cars sells the Belanger design for $300... and you don't have to cut the car to put them on

Russ,
I had a set of Doug's tri-Y's on my 61 for a couple years. They fit exceptionally well, the collector outlet is in the same area as the factory exhaust pipe which makes connecting to mufflers very easy, flanges are 3/8"-no leaks, 1 3/4" primary pipes, overall a nice header.

Another Doug's headers user here. Only problem is they don't work well on LOW cars, although I suspect none of the other full-length headers would work well on LOW cars either. Other than that, they seem nice - no leaks and the ceramic coating is staying in good shape. You're pretty much limited to the shorties if you like your cars out of nose-bleed territory.
