I just went for the first ride in my 409. It's actually a 476ci stroker in a 62 Impalla convertable. I was expecting it to be pretty fast but it's almost scary. I guess I'm just not used to driving anything with power. I hit 110 mph just going up a freeway ramp. :D And I almost lost it once when the tires broke loose after short shifting into second. :stooges The car still needs some work before it's ready to go, like an interior and a convertable top but at least it's mobile now. I'll probably have to trailer it to KC but at least it'll be ready enough to participate in the cruises.

Jim:

Glad to hear that you got it out to "test and tune". And that it runs "scary" :)

I wish I could say the same for my '62SS, but alas I am not even close :(. Still at that 50% level. Gosh, it takes a lot of time to reassemble these things bit by bit. Oh well, it's worth the effort. But some days it just looks daunting.

I am not planning on trailering mine to KC even though it's only 120 miles away. First, I don't have a trailer. Second, nothing to pull the trailer with. Third, I am planning to haul parts BACK to Columbia assuming Michael (TMRacing) is able to bring them out from Colorado. Fourth, I return from a conference overseas just before the Convention, returning late Thursday night to Columbia. I plan to be out there for Friday and for Saturday. I am hoping that seeing all these rides will stoke the fires to get motivated again and to see this project through :)

I will DEFINITELY be better prepared for the next one!

Look forward to seeing the convertible in KC!

Best,
TomK

Glad to hear it runs so good. I have my 474 apart right now for some intake manifold changes. Keep up the good work!
