I have a guy that does a GREAT job welding cast iron In the last yr. He has welded the camber closed so I could put my chamber in 3 pr of heads 4 new bow-ties and one pr old 300 hp, weld 2 pr of Hemi 2 chamber two ports down around guides. No problem with any of them. Has been doing it for a long time.Stands behind his work.
He did warn me some heads will have no pits some will. of all that I had welded one of the 300's had some pits tho it does not hurt anything.
Is a color match if you need any heads, welded pm me and I will get back too you.

He was tell me Mon. is rods come in Lot # The co. will send diff rods to try, then
he picks one he like then orders by lot # 100 pd He does that every time he needs to order.
This guy is the sharps welder that I ever seen.

No Arc welding Jim
A Head is heated up in a propane furance down inside of fire brick around it and
blankets. Then he use a big torch and it would be like brazing, But useing Cast Iron rod. They are sq. Rod diff. sides. Some times if has a junk head or block he will break a piece out of that to use to weld with.
The Head stays in furance while He welds it. HOT WORK He looks like he is dress to go to moon.

I've heard of it being done that way too. (luckily, I never had to resort to having it done)
Could blocks be done the same way?

Sounds like a really cool process!! I always used nickel and brass with an arc welder. Heat the area up first to stabalize the metal then add the brass into the arc then reheat with a torch and use a pick hammer to ping the metal while it cools. Works great on blocks but never tried a set of heads before.
