That looks like some of the distributor they use to stuff on the 195 inline six ( truck motor ) back in the early fifties.
Look at the hack job on the rotor.
Whats that about?
The blow-up of the pic clearly shows it as a six cylinder distributor.

Would it work on a standard car 409 with the gov removed?

yes, but you dont need to do anything with the gov, it was only used in conjunction with the original gov carb. you will never be able to have any vacume advance, just mechanical.

I have been wrong many times but , to me, it looks like a six cylinder dist.
I can't see how it would work in an 8 cylinder motor.

I'm not arguing whether it's for a truck or a car. I can see half of the cam. I count 4 lobes. there are two more I can't see, ( based on the location of the ones I can see ) The new Math formula tells me that cam on the dist. has six lobes , six opening and closing per rev.. Six cylinder?
Correct me if I'm wrong, cause Lord know , I don't want to break my perfect record. :rofl :takethat

After clarifying it with the former owner, It's off a truck 409. I'll post some more pics so you can see the rest of it. Either way for 25.00 I can have it.
