I just seem to be full of good ideas today. :D (see the new forum)

I am going to start working on a new idea I have, a member car database.

Any/all members will be able to fill in a pre-made form to add their cars/trucks/motorcyles/boats or whatever to our database. (submits will appear instantly, just like our event database)

What's the purpose of this you ask? Well, lets say along with the fine 1958-1965 full size Chevrolet's we all have in common, let's say you also have a thing for 1957 Desoto's! All you need to do is to check the searchable database to see if anyone else here has any Desoto's. If they do, this will give you the chance to contact them to share tips, parts and/or just shoot the BS.

Or maybe you just want to see what other members own a 62 Belair like yours? This will be the way to do it!

Maybe DQ can even find someone else that likes Ramblers? :p

This will apply to any and all motorized vehicles. Doesn't matter if it's steam powered, hybrid or anything in between. 1 wheel or 18 wheels. (or even no wheels!)

Any make, year or type of vehicle. Mopeds to hovercrafts... Scooters to amphicars, anything goes!

Would like to hear thoughts on this. Good idea? Bad idea? Improvements?

Bob

Sounds like a good idea to me.

P.S. Anything ever tried about the "lemons" we ever had the displeaser to own? I know I've got a few stories (non-GM)...This would be more that a few lines. Several paragraphs long maybe. I have a few to start!

RCE, sounds like the makings for a good thread. You should start us off by posting your experiences. I too have some "non GM" to share. :p

I like the way your thinking Bob. I was just wondering how and when you were going to include our 66's on the forum? You have small blocks and 6 bangers . They have been installing them in vehicles for 50 years. Just a thought.

I don't like the Idea of the 66's being included.
Not that I don't like them, but this is the "348-409" forum.
It is Special place and I don't want to see it get drowned out, by a gazillion people talking about their small block 327 or 350.

Too many Bells and Whistles aint' always a good thing!

Bob, I think that your idea is a good one. I like it!

BTW, did you say 1957 DeSoto???

With a 392 HEMI, a 57 DODGE/DeSoto was a formitable opponent!!!

Other than MOPAR kooks, most people forget that Chrysler had a heirarchy in thier brands too.

#1 Chrysler
#2 Dodge
#3 DeSoto
#4 Plymouth (Probably Lost Your Motor Oil Undertaking Tiny Hill) :rofl

Todd,

This would just be a database of what cars everyone owns. If anyone wants to talk shop about Desoto's or something off topic, they would have to do so by e-mail or private messages.

I do agree with your point though, we don't want to "clutter" our happy w-motor forum up with other things.

6cyl, 327, 66 Chevy's are fine with me as long as we don't have to wade through Viagra ads or Russian bride pop-ups to get to it! Keep up the good work Bob! :clap :clap

Just kidding. We spoke about this along time ago.

Bob,
I like your data base idea,
I was referring to Jester's post about adding 66's to the regular part of the forum, of which I was not too fond of the idea.
Some how a misunderstanding.

Keep up the Good work!! :clap
