I read someplace the build sheets were hidden or stuffed into the front seat or rear seat. I would like to look for them it is a 1964 2 door Impala SS 409 built in Los Angeles

Going by what I've heard over the years, they could be in many places. Some cars have more than 1, some cars have none. These sheets were used by the assemblers on the line and I heard these sheets were everywhere like litter. It wasn't required to put them in, they just ended up there most times. (probably to help get rid of them!) :p
Some places they can be:
under seat in springs (Baltimore built cars are famous for this area)
behind door panel
under seat upholstery
under carpet
above headliner
behind firewall pad
above gas tank
inner front fender well
I can't say all of these apply to a '64 but is the general area of where these have been found on GM cars.

The build sheet for my 60 Impala was in the springs of the rear seat. When I tried to salvage it the sheet fell in pieces :cry There was no saving it.

i had one glued to each inside fender right where the water from the vent for the wiper system runs and im suprised that theres as much of it left as their is from years of water hitting them. one is more complete than the other but one has the vin and serial number and seq number and key no clearer than the other. when i go to have the interior redone im going to tell the guy to be carefull and check for more and if they are to put them in a plastic zip bag and keep them safe. im tring to find atleast one completle one but since theirs 2 on the fenders i wouldnt be suprised if theres some in the interior. but not under the back seat or backrest of the rear seat dont know if any is above headliner, below carpet, under dashpad, or in the seats themselves where they cant be seen without being torn apart, i know their not above the gastank i heard that some people found them glued on the 63-64 year models right above the gas tank. but usualy there isnt much left of them like the fender glued ones due to water being able to get to them.
