Hey guys, I recently bought my second 59 and thought you might like to see some pics of an original Michigan car. Oh, by the way, she was neglected from 1974-1990 in a field. I bought the car from the guy who salvaged her in 1990. Anyhow, no pretty site to look at, but, TO ME, she is worthy of my utmost attention! :D I finally have another car to put that extra HA 348 in! Or, I could opt for her original 6cyl. What do you think? haha 348? thought so!

By the way, I have original title AND the dealer prep sheet giving engine, trans, and axle codes. :deal Hows that for cool?! Enjoy the pics...

I love it!!! Seeing an old Chevy being rescued just makes my day. :cheers

Im surprised the body isn't worse off sitting that long. It looks like it had no front end on it most of that time judging by the frame and engine. (that has to be the rustiest engine I ever saw) ;)

Don't let that hole in the floor scare you. There's not much difference between welding in a small piece of a floor as there is a bigger chunk. Once your in there, it's all a labor of love anyhow. :D

I would like to see that dealer sheet if you have a scanner. Maybe even put it on this site in the misc pic area if you wouldn't mind. Original paperwork like that is neato.

Thanks for sharing...

Hello Bob, she was a complete car all those years in the weather. Unfortunately, sitting on the frame and totally rusting that out. So, what you see in the pic is a good replacement from another car. Amazingly, it is only 41000 miles original, and back in 90 when they pulled the car out of the dirt, the engine supposedly loped when they popped the clutch and began to fire! I was told that he had the engine running at home! She still turns over today and the carb works very well! All original shocks are still there, although rusty. Thankfully I received rust-free fenders, core support, control arms, rear-end, and a donor floor pan...

It's too bad really, I bet the car was beautiful before it hibernated. I do know that the owners passes on when that happened.

I'll get a pic of the papers for you to see, too. Jim

That is a shame. Sitting outside is a cars worst enemy. They rust from the bottom up. :cry That engine runs??? WOW. You need to find that engine a home now too you know. A 41,000 mile 6 cylinder would be one tough animal.

Im glad it's being rescued. Love those '59's.:D

Nice find!

I have always liked the 59's
just have not been able to find the right car yet.
I would prefer a 2 door hardtop or convertible.
But I like them all.
Here is a 59 wagon I looked at last week.
It is solid but not worth the sellers asking price.
the pics look better than the actual car.
Man do I hate those wheels, I actually told the seller
that I think the car would look better on blocks with no wheels.
(He was a classic car jockey, buys and sells, and over-inflates the price)

I'd have to agree with that...those wheels are fugly! The rest of it looks really sharp in pics anyway.

That wagon is just screaming for big and little blackwalls and chrome reverses. Not "smoothies" either, REAL chrome reverses.

That's awesome you found another Biscayne like mine especially in MI! What shape is she in? 6? How much did you have to give if you dont mind me asking?

By the way, i've decided to sell her as I won't have the Bel Air out of the garage any time soon. Ad in the for sale section. Wanna have twin Biscaynes? haha Great find, love the 59's!!!

Glad to hear you made it ok, funny you mention driving too fast. When I broght her home, I did exactly the same thing. haha about 80! There must have been a "push" from behind! After 30 years of sitting, the road must've looked good.

18436572, I love the 59 pics! My gawd, these cars even look good in that condition!!! I do love those '59's! That's the most "styling" ever crammed into a car for sure. I see another one "peeking" out of the garage. Some guys don't have just one 59 Chevy, they have 3! (im jealous)

JokersBel, sorry, I must have missed when you posted the pics of the inspection sheet. Thanks alot. Is this something the dealer got with the car and then checked off prior to putting on the lot?

I see the key number is there. Did you know that you can go to a dealer and get brand new keys made with that number? (you may have known that but mentioning just incase) They don't have the original blanks though but can cut new keys.

Bob, I'm not sure about the checklist. Because it allows for the owners name at the top, i'd guess it was used before the new owner took delivery, but the owners name wasn't written in, probably because the salesman was in a hurry. To extend on it, the dealer's name did not show on the paper, making it yet a possibility it was issued by GM for the dealers to check on delivery. Who knows???

Jim, 18436572, now has all the paperwork for the car, of course.
I think that last pic looks really good with the low stance and all. If I had a big enough building to store her in, she'd still be here. haha I believe it'll be of great use in the restoration of jim's other two 59's! I'm really getting the urge to get my Bel Air done. Seeing her on the rotisserie is getting kinda old, so the body work must continue!!!!

That rotisserie you have is cool. Did you make it? It looks adjustable. That's the only way to go!

Take your time and plenty of pics along the way. You won't regret it in the end. :)

Droptop,
I know of a 59 2 door Brook wood wagon in your neck of the woods. It has been sitting in a farmers personal junkyard for about 20+ years. Looks to be restorable. Would try to get it myself , but im 900 miles away. There are many other cars in junkyard near the 59 also.See pics. Email me for info.

I'm kind of late to the discussion, but out of curiousity, what is the asking price for the 59 Nomad?

Thanks
