I think we could have a get together at Super Chevy in Norwalk. Date for this year is May,13,14,15. There is also an October date 7,8,9 at National Trails Raceway in Columbus Oh. Fred, I hope we can meet at National trails anytime for a day at the drags.

If you are going to go to Norwalk you might want to consider the Blue Suede Cruise which is June 3rd through the 5th this year. It is a lot less expensive, $35 for the weekend. The Super Chevy Show is expensive and charges additional if you want to make a few passes.

Tm is Michael Mason, TM racing. Remember the beige 62 Bubble top with the cowl hood? Had the aluminum heads? A bad hombre. The car, that is. Lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I would love to see his car run, but not against me!!!I think I would back off the line!!!!!!!!

I doubt that I will have a 409 car ready by then unless I pull a Bob and put a 409 in my 67 Chevelle. But I can get to Norwalk in about 45 minutes.

Oh sure. Just call the hotel, reserve some rooms and a meeting area. Call the track and they'll fall all over themselves to squeeze us in. Easy. Ask Phil. The Phil that spent months preparing and has a permanent twitch. And ask all the other friends and family that pitched in. They'll tell you how easy it was. And they lived there. I could set it up locally without too much trouble, but Colorado is too far west for a lot of guys. I do know there may be some things being considered, but don't have info right now.

Michael, I'm sure you are right. Phil took on a huge challenge. My hat is off to him. I don't think I could ever pull off what he did. Not sure I would even try. The biggest thing to me, was all you guys that traveled so far to get there. Huge undertaking in itself. And then, we get the racing rained out. My biggest disapointment was that I didn't go up north with the bunch that went racing at Thunder Valley. Sure wish I had done that.
My biggest hope is that Phil or someone else has the energy and the time to orgainize another convention. I hate to think that this was it. Too many people that I missed meeting last time, or didn't get to spend time with, to let that be the only convention. It has to happen again. And I GOTTA SEE YOUR CAR RUN.

Fred, incase you did not see Fatride's challenge.how about it :dunno

When I said we could have Mini Convention in Ohio,I didn't mean we could have a actual Convention. What I was saying we could have a informal meeting between club members within driveing distance, to witness the greatest showdown in drag racing history, between SS425HP and Fatride :brow

Has anyone been to a Blue Suede Cruise? Is it a Nostalgia type event,is it a 3 day event or anyother info on the event :dunno

I don't think we are talking about an organized event here. Just a bunch of W engine heads getting together in a group. Hell as far as I'm concerned getting together in an open field to bull sheeeit about our cars, listen to them run and maybe a little fooling around on the street is as fun as a big time event, and it's free! :D I just wanna go racing and swap some stories! :dunno

I know nothing about the Blue Suede Cruise. Have been to Norwalk a couple times. As far as Ray's challenge, I would like to point out that I am older than Ray, and would expect him to respect his elders. That means not beating them. We have to establish the RULES first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just sent Ray an email, regarding the fact that the Norwalk event is the weekend before the Good Guys at Indy. Now, that is one you don't want to miss. A lot of the guys from the East come over to it. There were 7 409 cars there last year. I would think this would be a better deal than Norwalk. I'm game for either or both, but I will not miss Indy. The racing at Indy is probably a lot more structured, meaning you won't get to make as many passes, but it is INDY. Ever make a pass at Indy? And the time to just set around and talk is worth it, to me. What we need is for someone to rent a motor home to tow over with, then we have a place to gather. A/C if needed, food, and shelter if rain.
What do you think of that?

Fred

I love it! I'm game. :clap PS, Fred from what I know of your car and engine you'll not have much of a run from me at 13.9. Besides that I'm going to help you beat me! Remember we are going to box your trailing arms this summer. :help

Allen, I know it is a long time off, but are you planning to come over to Indy this year? And Steve Moyer and Carl Bucks? And any other East Coast 409 guys? We could really make this interesting. MAybe we could get Denny Ford there, also. If we get enough numbers, maybe we could take out the Mopars by sheer numbers!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mr. 409 and Carolina Thunder? Something to shoot for. And, I think it's Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

How many more could we get to Indy? Tripower guy? There are several on here from Indiana. Quickshift 409?

I have been to the Blue Suede Cruise and it is a casual get together of older cars. The strip is open to make runs and there really haven't been any long lines. They have the typical swap meet and car corral where some interesting cars are for sale. It is a large event that has plenty of open space for additional cars without trying to organize an event. As far as motels are concerned I think you would have no problem finding one in Sandusky which is about ten miles away. I am sure it was no ones intention to under state the efforts of Phil to organize an event of the size he was able to accomplish.

Sounds like the East Coast guys are going to skip Indy, and go to Bowling Green, KY for the NHRA reunion. That thing looks pretty expensive to me. Indy is a nice place, but maybe Norwalk is a better idea. They are on consecutive week ends. Norwalk then Indy. Doesn't make a bit of difference to me. I might go to both. Someone help us decide.

Now Fred, you are giving both the car and me too much credit. Experience counts and you, Allen, Steve and several others have much more than I do with these cars. The car has not been sorted out on the track yet and it's possible that it just won't be what people think it should be. That happens a lot. And I may not have time to get it right either.

I like heads up, but a bracket race gives two drivers a fair chance to play and it comes down to skill. It's the same game only different. And those fancy new headers you got (and where are the pictures?) need to run it out. So if I race, don't be skeered, just bring it pal.

Merle, welcome. I see you say you are an old time drag racer. Well, I got you by 2 months. So, I'm an oldER time drag racer. IF we ever line up side by side, just like I told Fatride and TM, ya got to respect your elders. Ya got to let me go first!!! :rofl
Isn't Seville where 71 and 76 split? Big truck stop there? And a lake on the NE side of the interchange? Been through there many times if that's it.

I'm probably the slowest W engined car going to Norwalk. I'll go down the track with you first, after you beat me handily, your confidence level should be on track, then you can go on and beat the pants off Fred!

PS. there will be a small charge for the humiliation :evil
(Normal charge is one hotdog on a bun + one beer)

Yes, Seville is right near the intersection of 71 &76. We can almost see Rt71, from our house.
