on my 63 the high pressure ps hose from pump has a screw on fitting the return line slips on and has a worm gear clamp where it plugs into the pump.

thanks, but on the stock pump that mounts to the back of my generator it has two screw in fittings so i'm still at a lose. but if you have the same set up can you tell me which line has the clamp, and is it the top or bottom line. thanks again. :dunno

Oh. well mine has a alternator on it and the factory harnes plugs into it and the ps pump sits below that. so its not same set up.

Bam, the high pressure line is the smaller of the two that go into the power steering valve on the centre link ( where the pitman arm connects to the steering linkage ).

well guess 63 is different more than i thought cause the smaller hose on mine is the return line and the bigger hose is the high pressure hose with a screw on fitting.

belair63... if you check, you will see that those lines at the pump connection are both essentially 3/8" diameter. The return at the pump is held on with a hose clamp. At the other end of that return hose where it connects to the PS valve on the linkage ( as I stated above ), you will see that it is in fact the larger of the two... uses a 5/8" wrench on the flare nut.

They're all the same for the "ram" style power steering systems... yes, even your 63' 283 car.

Well im going by memory here but i remember the smaller hose with the worm gear clamp on it has the smaller screw in fitting that goes into the powersteering control valve. and the screw on fitting has the bigger screw in fitting that goes into the powersteering control valve.
