Yes it worth racing a 348. I race mine all the time. You go as fast as you have money. The more money you put out the faster you are capable of going. A 348 with out breaking the bank should be capable of producing 375 to 400 hp at the flywheel. You can put 409 340hp heads on it and do some bowl work, this will make it breath better. An engine is an air pump, the more air through it the more power it will make. An engine making 400hp should make your 29 go about 105 or 6 in the 1/4 and in the 12's. That is if you put the right gears in it to make the engine work at the right power curve. A W motor puts out a lot of torque and doesn't necessarily have to have the snot wound out of it. :D Roy

You just made me jealous talking about the 348 and its torque/power capabilities! All i've had the chance to do with mine is break it in and the occasional run for time's sake. haha

Imagine, if only I could finish the rest of the car! That engine sounds sooooo sweeeet now, and that's just idle-2500 rpms without the end carbs kicking in! OH I just can't wait to feel the pull when that happens!!!!

Thanks Bob! What do you think using the carb paint from Eastwood? I just couldn't see spending $75 a carb for reanodizing. All the rest of the carb parts were just painted either alumi blast, cast, or GM black.

Amazingly, I really enjoy overhauling carbs. I have another original 3x2 setup that I may have to OH the same and I suppose let her go. It is only collecting dust at this time. haha Thanks agaiin...Jim

By the way, I should've taken a pic of the carbs bases beforehand. THey were in terrible condition! I had to replace all the base shafts and butterflies. oh well but i think i have one pic, let me check...here it is

I use Eastwood paint on mine but I must say your detail work is super. I have a Eastwood powdercoating outfit and I got some carb color from them and I let you know how it turns out. Don't let any gas leak or it will take that paint off.:) Roy
