View Full Version : '61 409 article in CHEVY RUMBLE

There is an article in the new CHEVY RUMBLE about an original '61 409 and its owner. He had bought a new one in '61 and now owns another. What I find interesting is that it is stated that the first one was '61 409 number XX and the latest one is number XXX (I don't remember the numbers off hand,but that's not really important), but just how/where are these numbered?

I haven't seen the article but considering the value of a true 61 409 motor, I wouldn't think anyone would be cruisin around on the street with one and a turbo 350 behind it. :dunno

The Original 61 409 cracked after the bottom end dropped out.
The engine in the car is a 61 409, and he also has another spare 61 409 block.
The car is not stock. and it would appear as though he built it with the intention of using it. He has run the car 11.99 @121.02mph.

Got to admire a guy who knows what he wants and then uses it the way he wants, without being afraid of scratching it or getting it a liitle dirty.

"roaminchariot" is a member here.I don't think the member here "roaminchariot" and the car "roam'n' chariot" featured in CR are the same. The one in our photo section is red with white stripe. The one in CR is red with a black stripe.

you may be right,
what are the odds of two men with red 61 chevrolets with 409 and backed by TH350 trans both naming their cars Roam'n Chariot??

Now thats weird!! :eek:
