I just bought a 58 348 truck engine. Second design with water cooled plug holes in the block. Motor is stock and untouched. No heads. Came with ratty bare 333 heads. Here are the questions. Should I put a 409 crank in the block? Modern big block rods? How big of an overbore is available ( I have seen as high as .125 talked about.)? The motor is going in my 62 belair 2dr sedan. Turbo 400 3000 stall, 411 posi, Hodgkis lower arms, I am currently running a 383 with 485 HP, Aluminium Radiator, 2.5 exhaust, disc brakes, 605 power steering, everything that was going to break or bend has been fixed. I drive around the cruise scene and don't race the thing. The W head motor looks right in my car, but I am not sure I can live with less than 350 HP. What is the trick setup on this motor? If you have parts I can use Let me know. My thoughts are 60 overbore, 409 crank, 545 rods, Deck the block .08, 11:1 pistons, HEADS (no clue)? Thanks Guys
