question, does anyone know why some 62 brackets extend back into the rear seat floor pan? i have a ht.built in flint the 3rd week of aug. and a conv.built in flint the 3rd week of march that are like this. i also have a flint ht.built the 1st week of nov. that has the short ones like most ss cars. something i have noticed on my ht.built in aug.it has a 61 rear axle hsg. with a drain plug and a 61 master cyl. on it. looks to me like chevy did use left over parts at the end of 61 and the start of 62.

My 62 SS convertable was built at Flint on the 4th week of March 62. It has short, almost homemade looking, seat brackets that seem to attach to other braces that extend into the rear footwell. I tried to zoom in on some photos but I couldn't get a really clear picture.

thanks for your post. i was begining to think no one was going to reply. your car has the brackets i'am talking about. i have only seen these on a few 62s. i have one conv. and one hardtop with them. my other 62s all have the short ones. all 62 brackets look like they are home made with a piece of angle iron but they are the real thing. 63 and 64s have a nice looking stamped bracket. i was just wondering what the deal was about the long ones.

i wonder if only the flint cars used these long brackets on some of their cars?

From the pics I think my Baltimore car may have the same brackets.

well my theory of these brackets only being used on flint cars didn't last long. thanks for sharing. is your ss a 62 hardtop or conv?
