wiring questions

Hey guys just a couple quick things on my wiring. Just to clarify, for the distibutor and coil, I ran the power to the + side of the coil, and from the - side of the coil to the dist. Sound right? It ran, and I assume it wont run if hooked up backward.


The next thing, I have a tach from Mooneyes, I had it hooked up to the HEI, now im running points. I took the wire that used to go to the HEI and now I hooked it to the + side of the coil. When I fired it up last Sunday, the tach didnt move, where or how should the tach be hooked up? Any input would be greatly appreciated. :brow

Trigger wire goes to negative side of coil .

Yep, power wire from wiring harness goes to the (+) side of coil, distributor goes to (-) side.

Most tachs have 4 wires, green, red, white and black.

Black - ground
Red - 12V with key on
White - Dash lights
Green - (-) side of coil
