Does anyone know a source for the flame arrestor which goes on the end of the crankcase vent tube on a 64 409/425? I have lost the one off of my breather base. I looked at the Show Cars catalog and didn't see one. Any help would be appreciated.

You might check with a Chevelle parts supplier. They sell those repro L-79 327 air cleaners and those use an arrestor, too. The L-79 has the larger vent tubes like a 64 409.

Jim, I am talking about the tube which goes up into the bottom of the breather base on the two four carburators. It is welded in the breather base. It attaches to the little rubber hose which is in your attached picture. The end up inside the breather normally has a flame arrestor on it. The other end is attached via a short hose to the pcv pipe which goes in the back of the engine. My 64 has a closed pcv system as opposed to the open pcv system. The oil fill tube has a sealed cap and a tube welded into the side which is attached via a hose to a pcv oriface which is screwed into the base of the front carb.
Thanks
Update: I found the part at Showcars for $12.00. It was out of production for a while and is now available again. Thanks for the input anyway
