View Full Version : Holley jet sizes & dist question

Anyone who runs a Holley on a w block remember what there jetting is at. This is on a stock 1958 348. The carb is a 4150 600CFM setup. Considering the engine hasn't been run in 10-12 years the carb is ideling nice but I'm sure its off because I last used the carb on a RX7 rotery. I'm just looking for a base to start from. I will be hooking up an Air Fuel guage to fine tune it as soon as I get the exhaust on.

Oh and I read that the distributer needs to go in a certain way and will have oiling issues if you don't. I am prety sure it is close but I don't know how far off I can be. The vacume canaster is pointing almost directly forward... it points at the pasenger side rear carb stud. About 1 plug wire off CCW from ware a stock 350 is usualy shown to be positioned.

Don't know about the jets, but the vacume canister should be pointed to the passenger side hood hinge.

Mine is actualy pointing over the intake vacume port (hollow stud) and not over the rear intake bolt like pictured above.

Here is how it was when I got it. It looks to be to far forward in this pic. When I set it up last night it ended up being a little farther forward than it was when I got it. I'll move it back to ware it is susposto be tonight. Thanks

But that pic leads me to another question: Should I hook the vacume line for the advance to the intake or to the carb? I know many distributers are susposto be hooked to the carb and not the intake. So why is this different and should it be? You can just see in the pic above that this intake port has a hose running from it that ends up going to a remote vacume booster. I pluged it up for my application and was going to use the one on the carb.
