Well I finaly test drive my truck with a 58 348 last night and had the 10+ year old fuel pump blow on me. I managed to get another pump on there but it has a return line fitting on it. The 61 chevy truck tank doesn't have a return line on it. Can I just block this line off or do I need to get another pump? As I understand the return line is used to keep fuel temps down. I have heard of others blocking their return lines but this was at the carb and not at the pump.
I am running a holley carb with no return line at the carb and the stock carb also wasn't set up with a return line.
Thanks for the help

Someone sold you the wrong pump. No 348 engines had return lines. Who are you dealing with??

Any first gen small block chevy pump will work. I would take that one back and just tell them you need a fuel pump for a mid 60s 283. You are probably confusing the "parts counter expert" by mentioning 348 and Chevy in the same sentence.

These days you would probably confuse most parts counter guys mentioning 283 in the same sentance. :help

these days you would confuse most counter guys by saying "Hello"
and anything after that will cause a mental break down.
