Hello,

I recently replaced the 235 in my 59 Biscayne with a 1960 model 348. Everything went smoothly and now I am trying to finish up all the small stuff. I am missing the dipstick, and was wondering if a small dipstick is the same. Or could someone let me know the length of the dipstick so that I can make one, until I can get to the next swap meet.

THANKS for the help.

1959 to 61 348 and 1959 to 63 283-327s are all the same. it's 18 3/8" from flange to the point, 16 3/8" from flange to the full mark, and 17 3/8" from the flange to the add mark. note the 58s are different

Is the pan different or the tube into it a differnet length on the 58? Do they all hold 4 qts? I am going to fill my pan with 4 quarts and just mark the stick to match or trim the tube. What do you think? I dont know what pan or tube or stick I have. Thanks

I F YOU ARE UNCERTAIN ABOUT THE FULL MARK,, HERES A HINT THAT WILL STOP YOU FROM "WONDRUN" , OR KEEPING YA UP AT NITE GOING... HMMMM? CHANGE YOUR OIL....PUT IN YOUR FIVE QUARTS --START THE MOTOR..THEN CHECK YOUR OIL..AND MARK 'THAT' DIPSTICK,,WHERE THE THE OIL IS UP TO..........THIS WAY YOUR NOT OVER, OR UNER FILLING THE OIL PAN,,,YA NEVER KNOW WHEN SOMEONE COULD HAVE CHANGED THE OILPAN IN THE MANY YEARS THAT HAVE PAST BETWEEN OWNERS >>>>> :brow LOU
