Can anyone please decode this. I bought it for my 62 impala. It is a T-10 Tranny this is what I wrote down from it:
3813490
T10D-1
8-27 62A
2-2
8 25 62
Please tell me this will work on my 283 62 with no problems!
Thanks Bob

The "D" code indicates 1st gear 2:54, 2nd 1:89, 3rd 1:51, 4th 1:00. Just use the correct clutch disk and it will work.

garn3,
Just make sure that the rear-end ratio you have will work with the 2.54 gear to give you the overall ratio that you want.
Trans Gear Ratio X Rear Gear Ratio = Overall Ratio
2.54 X 3.08 = 7.8232
2.54 X 3.55 = 9.017
2.54 X 3.73 = 9.4742
2.54 X 4.11 = 10.4394
ETC. ETC.
My trans is a 1961 Super T-10 3.44 Gear. I have to use a 3.08 rear due to the granny geared trans.
3.44 X 3.08 = 10.5952
Hope this helps.

The trans has a cast case and aluminum tailshaft date coded 1961. The gear ratios are 3.44, 2.28, 1.46, 1.00 with nickol alloy gears. The trans is described by Borg Warner (I have a copy of one of their old manuals) as a street performer. It is designed to be used with a 3.08 rear.
This combination gives a 1rst, 2nd, & 3rd overall ratio equivalent to a 2.20 trans with a 4.56 rear.
4th gear being 1 - 1 (as all the Borg Warners are) gives you a great cruising gear with the 3.08 rear.

Does it use the big main shaft of the super-the one that uses the 400 type yoke? Interested because i don't really know that much about the interchangeability of parts in these. I have a super and a 60/61 dated T10, be neat to have the strength of a super.

Steve,
No it doesn't. It uses the smaller shaft like the T-10. Only the later supers had the heavy shaft that you are talking about.
