I'm thinking of putting a 348 into my 60 Impala ( currently a 283 car ) . I found a beautiful truck engine, all standard bore, crank never turned everything real clean, looks like I could hone it reassemble and run, The date codes on block and heads are same day , My only concern is that it is a truck block and I'm not sure of all the Particular differences. I am told that the truck block has thicker walls and less likely to overheat ? any advise would be appreciated!!

BignBad...
Do the cylinders have one or two cut outs at the top ?
If you have one...
Do the pistons have a top that looks like the roof of a house ?
If so.... you're in business !

I'll check that out tonight , The onlything I know for sure right now is that the date codes on the block and heads are 1960

That Is good news, BnB :cheers
Essentially, it's a car engine ( not that strange ). With steel shim head gaskets, you have 9.5:1 compression... they're available from Show Cars.
I would recommend a modest hydraulic cam in the range of .480"-.520" / 208-220 duration @ .050".

You'll have a great engine, and not break the bank :deal :beerbang
