A step closer today!

After a long hiatus ("A gap or interruption in space, time, or continuity generally attirbuted to lack of focus, laziness, or some combination of the above :)) I got back on track with the 409 stroker build. The engine has been assembled for some time and was installed about a month ago, but I am working on all those details associated with the install that aren't going all that well...

My problem is rooted in the fact that I made a deal with myself not to fire the engine up until I had the rest of the drive train in order. We slipped in a posi unit, bolted up the four speed, rebuilt the drive shaft, welded on the fourth link, put in new dual master cylinder setup with all new lines, installed a new gas tank and sending unit with all new lines, you name it. The idea is that once it gets broken in the first 20 minutes, I want to be able to drive it down the street one time (OK, maybe twice!) even though it doesn't even have the front clip on yet :). It's a driver, not a museum car :).

One thing holding me back was exhaust, and today I solved that problem. I am going with stock 2.5 inch cast manifolds, and today we connected the Dynaflow mufflers up with 2.5 inch aluminized pieces, dumping the exhaust out a bit differently than the stock setup (more of a 45 degree angle and a bit farther towards the rear). I was a big deal to me since we had to trailer it over 30 miles to get it to the guy who we trust the most to make a quality performance system at a fair price (and a guy who would work with us on doing that our way).

Here are a few pics of the results. Still a week or two away from getting the time to solve the other problems so we can do the intial break in...

Enjoy!

If it's not a black 62 chev, A white one, would be my second favorite choice.
Like Jim said, it is looking very good.
It will look nice when it is done sitting next to your white 63 Corvette.
