I'd like to get rid of my stock 425 horse cam and get something that comes on a little (a lot) sooner. Want solid lifter; I like the sound. Nothing far out that requires different valve length, head mods, etc. This is a stock 63 425 engine with 690s and 3.70 rear/4 speed. Any recommendations?

I'm not sure how much lift you can go with the stock springs but I notice that Aubrey lists cams that work with stock valves and aftermarket springs on his site. http://www.bruneauperformance.ca/intro.html If you look at this group there are some really nice ones there. Look at the specs on this one...M-240595D
270/274 advertised duration with 240/244 @ .050 and .595/.605 lift. The lobe separation angle isn't listed but I'm guessing that it's probably 110 deg. So even though it has a little less duration than the 425hp / Z-11 cam it would make more power because of the extra lift and overlap. I think it would make more power everywhere but especially in the lower and mid ranges. It might idle just a bit worse because of the extra bit of overlap but it should be fine. I don't know if the stock springs and retainers would work with that much lift though :dunno and I'm no expert. But that cam sure looks good to me. :cheers
