This classic car has a lot of the original parts and the tires are almost new.

did you re-type all of that? or is that the woman's own writing? (carolyn Alon)
either way, thanx for the warning.

just the other day i got one of those phony requests from the bank....."reveal your secret info or we'll close your account" emails. it was from "bank of the west" point is , the grammer, spelling and style of writing is not from any legitimate business.
doesnt take a moment to spot a fake. a guy at work got burned on a harley deal. and he wired $2900 western union. THEN he came to ask if that was a bad idea. nobody can help him get his cash back.

Chev1960,
Do you think this is the same guy all the time?
There are literally hundreds of people doing this same scam.

:stooges

I almost don't feel sorry for anybody who falls for these scams.
A lack of common sense is the culprit to these victims that fall for it hook, line and sinker.

Just this last week I received an email from eBay with a letter saying that they needed new info on my account, or my account was in jeopardy. I hit the link and came to a site that was a dead ringer for the eBay "sign in" page. It had a place for me to sign in with my ebay "handle" and my password, all seeming very legit. I went to the next page and was just about finished and ready to send when I happened to think of something. I went back to the first page and typed in a fictious handle with a very nasty password--it went straight through to the following page!!!! I was just seconds away from sending financial info to someone!!! Just beware.

You most likely DID, however confirm the person phishing for your info that your contact info was legit, by clicking the link. These links are sometimes unique to the spammed person, and are definately something to be avoided. This is also true of your e-mail. If you receive your e-mail with html enabled, everytime you download your mail, you're confirming to the spammers that your address is legit. This is GOLD for these guys, since they can then sell your address for a higher price, since it's "confirmed", whether you respond to it or not.

I highly recommend that (if you use it) you open up Outlook Express, or Outlook, hit the tools----->options bar, and set your e-mail to be displayed as "Text Only".

I had a 41harley with side car all restored # matching for sale for about a year.
I had it listed on a web site for sale and early in my listing , when these cons were just getting started I got an email from an African state.
The guy said he wanted the bike and would send me payment in the form of a cashiers check for the full amount I was asking plus an additional $5000.00 to cover shipping. I was to depsoit the check and return the $5,000.00 to another person state side so he could arange shipping. I thought the guy sounded legit so I said OK send the check. I got the check and it was a bank draft check as legit looking as any I had ever seen.
I took it to the bank and said depsoit the check which they would do, no problem. I thought great but something said ask a little more. I ask the teller if there was any way this could be bogus. She said not that she knew of but went to ask another bank officer . She said there should be no problem but it would take three weeks to clear.
Of course I thought a cashiers check was as good as cash but it is not . It has to clear as any other check.
I thought 3 weeks to clear but the guy said time was of the essence and I should return the shipping fees of $5,000. quickly so shipping could be arranged. I then ask the teller to check the bank the check was drawn on. It took about half an hour for them to get back the out of country info but found there was no such bank.
Had I not ask I would have been out $5,000.00 to this con. I then began to get all kinds of similar offers, all cons. for the next year or so. I did however sell the bike just this past Nov. to a guy in Texas that saw it on the net so the net is good but beware of the cons.
As far a Ebay goes I have lost $1200.00 to a con there . I purchased an item from a person that had good feedback and was indorsed by ebay as a business that had been checked out, can't remember what they called it. Well I paid the $1200 and got nothing . After many weeks of working with Ebay I got nothing. Ebay claims that they have insurance on deals up to $500. money back guarantee but that is a con. I tried to get that but they said they would only give it to me in the other party would agree to reimburse them. This is a con by ebay. Another guy had the same con at the same time for the same goods and was burned for more than I was. ebay is a con of sorts as well.

Yes, I know what you mean alshotride, usaly the cons that I see there was no positive feedback, they usaly have 0 feedback ,but that last one ad about 5 positive feedbacks.
I guess there not much thing wee can do about it, just when wee see one report him and warn the others.
