The Garbageman is here. It just went past 4:09 PM. I was busy ready everyones posts and missed... by that much. :doh
I just got back from Woodburn Dragstrip where I took the '62 for it's first run of the year. What a great day. The car was perfect and it ran it's best time ever, 13.039 at 105.26 mph. It didn't bog today at all just ran fast and straight. Man I love that car.
:D
409's rule. :beerbang

I hope everybody is having a great day.

Man.....it doesn't get much better than today!!!!

We had the swap meet here in KC..........bought a nice set of 62-64 SS bucket seats, 3 posi's, ..a small block dual 4 setup.....noticed the carb linkage looked familiar as I walked by.......yep, a 3361-S and a 3804-S SETTING ON AN OFFENHAUSER SMALL BLOCK INTAKE!!!! a set of 62-63 327 valve covers (yuck)...and a 1961 348 GE engine...mostly complete!!!! :clap :clap The GE engine in 1961 was a 250HP shortblock with #1147 H/Perf heads and the #776 aluminum intake!!!!!!!!!! That is the same intake as the 61 409!!!!!!!! BIG SCORE on that one!!!! It was rated as 305HP and was available with the Powerglide transmission.

Then my wife called me at the swap meet......we have to take her Harley over right away to Topeka, KS to leave it off for service so it can be ready next weekend. DAMN.......now I am FORCED to ride over and back to bring her home so I put about 150 miles on the Harley this afternoon!!! The bad luck just continues!! :rofl :rofl

And now I get to spend this evening with the 348-409 forum......damn the luck!!!! :dunno :doh

Oh JimK.......I did stop and get lottery tickets too. 4 Kansas Pick 3 and 2 "very special" Powerball!!!! It's only 19 million tonight but I THINK I could manage with that extra income. If I win the Powerball.......I'll host the next convention and it WILL BE FREE FOR EVERYONE :bow :bow :bow

That's it for now...............

Any ideas ???? JimK.........what was your question????????

Jim,
Our block is a 1964 425hp .030 over, only because it needed the clean up. We have raced it going on 3 seasons. The first season we ran it with stock rods, GM .030 over pistons, GM Z-11 solid lifter cam,583 heads, 400 hp single 4 barrel intake, an old 800cfm Holley spread bore carb, home made ex-street rod headers and an old Mallory dual point distributor. The heads just had a fresh valve job and we put screw-in rocker studs and roller rockers. Best time 10.03 131 mph.

The second season the only things that we changed were an MSD distributor and a Quick Fuel Carburetor 750 cfm. We ran a 9.87 first run after the changes and backed it up with a 9.90 next run. Our second season best 9.81!

This year we have made three more changes 1)New JE custom pistons, 2) Eagle BBC rods and new headers. Each new rod and piston assembly is a little over 100 grams lighter than stock. The main reason for the change is for motor longevity but it should perform better. :brow :brow One last change we've bought new Hoosiers. We will be racing either next weekend or the following weekend. We are looking forward to this season. (Especially Norwalk).

I not only fired the old girl up, I actually got to test out the power steering and disc brakes that I installed over the winter. The guy that lives next door to me now has two new black strips in front of his house . They start at his driveway and at mine
Life is good. :cheers
