I found an old August 1986 Super Chevy magazine at the local flea market today. I grabbed it because I was at the Super Chevy Meet at Green Valley Raceway then. I read the article and saw you were there too. Small world eh?
I drove my 62 to that event but parked it in the regular parking area. Even then it was just a daily driver, but had the same 409 in it then as now.
Anyone else here at that event?
I couldn't miss the last event at Green Valley Raceway.
Later,
Tom

Man, what a small world. I was there and bought a factory tach. for a 63 SS I had at the time. Said "hi" to Phil. I believe Floyd Garrett was there also. He had a 62 bubbletop era-correct race car displayed. Phil will have to comment , my memory has gotten smaller as my body has gotten bigger . Wrench, are you from the Green Valley area? It was acturally Smithfield wasnt it?

Yes, I was there!! It was a great little drag strip. I think I went to Super Chevy there twice before it moved to Ennis. I really liked the older tracks better!! The new tracks are very nice.....but .........
I met Barry Taylor there at one of these meets. Dan Dean would run his Armortech black 62 bubbletop there!!!
Ah.................19 20 years ago.............the good old days!!!!

I bought a ''Phil Reed"" T shirt at one of those early Ennis -Super-Chevy events- After only 18 or 19 years this T shirt is becomming tattered. I think it only fair that if one puts his name on a product that it should come with a life time warranty. The shirt used to fit loosely but now fits very snug------must be poor quality material.

Ronnie, sure sounds like a quality problem to me. You would think there would be a warranty available. :)
I sure hope you get this straightened out to your satisfaction. If not, let us all know. Maybe have to get a possee together and descend on Kansas City to see if we can smoke the dog out. Anyone got a new rope??????????? :rofl

Probably couldnt get any satisfaction. I hear all the police in Kansas City drive 409s. Phil has got em in his back pocket.

Damn.......sounds like I'm the bad guy now, doesn't it????!!!! I can understand Ronnie's frustration but Fred's really surprises me!!!! :rofl :rofl Oh well...he was an internet date anyway!!!! :rofl :rofl
Doug Marion was always good about putting either my parts or my mug in his coverages of the Super Chevy Sunday events that I went to. I can still remember the first time I saw my picture in a national magazine!! It was quite an ego boost!!!
All my t-shirts come with an unconditional guarantee.......that they will fit you when you buy it and they won't get dirty if you never wear them!!!! :stooges

I remember that car. First time I saw it, it had no race scripting on it anywhere. Solid black. Wonder where it is now?
It reminded me if a black Belair that blew my doors of driving down I-35W one day. I had just left the courthouse paying tickets when a fine black 62 came up beside me (I was in my maroon/white 56 Chevy powered by a 68 Z-28 302) and we both punched it. We pulled into the Seminary South parking lot to 'look each other's' over. He had a big block under the hood. :D
Didn't Dan write the rulebook for the NHRA in 62 (or something like that)?
You are right......those were the days!
