I purchased a set of so called "NOS" wheel covers from a fellow New Yorker from a lead in an auction listing of a "NOS" wheel cover on ebay. When I got the hubcaps they were clearly used, but had a good job of buffing and polishing on them. When I contacted the guy he said the man he bought them from said they were "NOS" meaning New Old Stock. Since he has a hubcap business I rather doubt his judgement is that flawed. When someone says NOS make sure they make good on it. It shouldn't mean Nice Old Stuff.

Get your money back! Fight for it. People that do this make honest ebay sellers look bad.

e-bay horror story--for sale 1961 Impala not 62,63,64---10 day ad reserve price $6,500. bid of $7,368 12 hrs before close e-bay pulled ad. Listing violation. Seen this done dozens of times in last couple of years. I know ignorance of rules is no excuse but wished they could have notified in the first day or two, so I could have edited. Winning bidder of $6500 second time around. Negative feedback buyer. Naturally hes nowhere to be found.item # 4543842392 Oh well, I will finish and drive it

Ronnie, what was the violation? I have never sold on ebay, but been thinking about it. Are they really strict? Seems like they must not be, with some of the things you see on there.

Fred, I guess Im just unlucky. They said it was not honest to post ad with multiple years in the title. I dont know where theu draw the line. I have had some success buying and selling, so I guess its part of the game.

This will sound bad... but... why put what it's not? I've seen it done. If I look at a 61, I know its not a 62 63 64. More traffic? Ebay doesn't know anything about cars anyways. A buddy had a few pulled because he had a title for the auto. Listed it as parts car. guess you can't have parts cars with titles. (illegal in In.)

Tom, lets say a guy is looking to buy a 1963 Impala----if he enters 1963 Impala and hits -search- it would also show my 61 because of having titled as not 1962,63,64 . In other words, the computer shows anything with 1963 in the title. It is a way to force people to look at an ad they would not have seen. I realize now why it is a violation but didnt know at that time. An expensive lesson.
