We've had a chance to put some miles on the new engine, and have worked most of the bugs out. No more leaks, no overheating, and we've addressed 99% of the little odds and ends that always pop up.

After the first couple runs down the road, HONESTLY, I was pretty disappointed. Now you guys have to understand, I'm 35 and this is the first 409 dual 4 I have ever ridden in. I read and hear about how these engines are animals. That is what I was expecting. Didn't happen. It just seemed doggy until 4000 rpm and up. Even then, not super impressed.

With some good advice from several different members here I looked into the timing. Only getting 28 total until 4000. Bought an advance kit and started playing around with the springs and weights.

12 initial, 36 at 2500 after a dozen or so combinations tried.

BIG DIFFERENCE NOW! :bow 409

Holy shi* Throws you back in the seat and accelerates like a beast. The front end lifts and gets "light" while torquing over to the pass side, rear end squats down and nothing but solid hard acceleration. What an unbelievable rush. Now I see what everyones been talking about.

It's really great to finally have experienced some good old fashioned HP. I've got an MSD 6AL on the way and I'm sure I haven't experienced the "final" setup yet, but if it only gets better from here, I'm SOLD.

Dan

I've added a few pictures. There not the absolute best pictures I've ever taken, but they'll have to do for now.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate it. We couldn't have gotten this far, this fast without all the great support and help we received here on the forum. To everyone that stepped up, pitched in, and offered advice: You have my sincere gratitude. :clap I'm really looking forward to Norwalk and the chance to get together with everyone that is able to go. See you there.
