I just got my electrolysis rust removal bath set up yesterday and I'm pretty impressed with the results. I don't have a sand/bead blaster so this is the perfect alternative for me. All you need is a platic tub, a large piece of steel for the anode, water, washing soda (sodium carbonate), water and a battery charger. It takes a little longer than blasting but its very gentle and won't eat away at the part being cleaned.
So far I have cleaned some bumper brackets and an exhaust manifold and they all turned out great!
Here are some good websites explaining the process for those that are curious.
