Does anyone have any info on early cars? I have a chance to go look at a 26 or 27 Auburn speedster. It has been in storage for many years and for sale. My dad went out and looked at it and took a few pictures. It looks pretty complete. Anyone care to guess a value? If I like it I may come home with it but would like to find out an average selling price.I have been trying to post a picture and am having trouble. Any help on value would be appreciated. :dunno

Is that a "boat tail" speedster?? I can't tell from the photo.
I have always heard there is a lot of interest in the auburn boat tail speedsters.
but maybe those were from the mid to late 1930's.
maybe check out hemmings online.
Remember it is a challenge to restore a rare car that there are no reproduction parts available for.
Good luck on your decision.

Not a boattail speedster. Maybe a 2 seater with a rumble seat is a better description. The old man says it is nice. I hope to see it this week.

One thing's for sure, Brian... that is NOT the type of car to be "street rodded"

Gorgeous car !
But as has been pointed out, it's the 'boat tails' that are really desireable.

As for actual value ?
It would HAVE to be worth what my 35 Ford 3W is.... and I've walked from an offer of $22,000 ( Sometimes it's not about the money ).
If he's a motivated seller, I would expect around $8000 - $ 10,000

I recall that the "Old Car Price Guide", readily available at many bookstores and even grocery stores where I am at, might have listings for Auburns. they are definitely collectible, and as Aubrey points out, some more than others. I say "go for it" :)!

Good luck!

Try contacting Richard Dove at McPherson College. He was on of my automotive restoration instructors and is an Auburn nut! He should be able to give you a great deal of info. dover@mcpherson.edu

Sorry fellas, I dropped out of sight for a while. The update on the Auburn is that it is 100 percent complete and has a price tag of 28,000. A little more than I was willing to spend. Oh well, I'll keep my Impala for another week or two! :dunno Thanks to all that responded. :clap
