Bob,the GT is a sold unit and it will not be PDI,its not going to move until the customer picks it up,I think the owner is going to store it.
Todd,my wife drives the new truck and I haven,t done a fuel milage check because I don't drive it much.We have owened the truck for 8 mo and it only has 2,800 miles on it.

Jim
A former neighbour of mine owns and operates a Ford dealership. I had mentioned to him some time ago that one of my favourite cars was the GT40, which was a 1960's version. Not too many colour combinations, as I recall. White with blue deck stripes or blue with white deck stripes. He mentioned that a new version was going to be offered soon. So this is it eh? ...Nice!!! Of the many retro-versions that have come along, this is a really good looking replica!! Sorry...but the F**d, retro-T-bird does not make noticable mention in my opinion.
My neighbour has told me recently, however, that the new 2005 "Mustang" is currently recorded as number one in domestic car sales, for its class. He stated that it comes with or ...can be ordered with 3.0" exhaust, ( I wasn't paying attention) and it was apparently designed for extra large tire clearance at the rear wheel wells. He recently traded (2) 2005 SUV's from his lot, to get another 2005 Mustang on his lot, from another dealer.
In a 2004 TV advertisement, with a new combined spin on the "Bullit" character played by Steve McQueen" and the Kevin Costner character of "Field of Dreams" with the title-hook of "build it and he will come", is an exceptional marketing angle, I think anyways.
At the "end of the day though" I still prefer the "OLD STEEL". Its got some-kinda romance as to the style of it, and in some cases, the raw horsepower attached to it, and it won't cost $154,000. It'll probably grab much of the same interest, and turn just as many heads, since all of the former muscle cars are already a rarity.
It was the 50-60-70's era that was an cumulative assembly of performance, class and style all around. This is ± three decades of time that has been getting extra attention over the past few years.
I had an auto magazine article which compares many older and newer muscle cars. Surprizing class distinction! At the top of the comparative list was a stock 62'-409ci Vs a stock early 70's 455ci trans-am. Both ran low 13.0's in the ¼ mile. They were also more that 40 years apart in overall technology.

Whether you like Fords or not, that's one sweet ride. I saw one at a car show last weekend and got a couple of pics of the engine and interior.

These are being sold in Autoweek starting at $200,000 and going UP from there.
Major recall on first 500 or so built required Ford to have each one in customers hands picked up and shipped back to the assembly plant to habe the lower control arm replaced and a "sleeve" put on the crankshaft because of leaks (the same type of sleeve you use to repair a Chevy crank at the balancer). Nice car, too bad it costs double what a Corvette costs, $75,000 MORE than a new 505hp Z06 Corvette (or Viper GTS for that matter).
Beautiful car, but give me a new Mustang GT (for myself), a new Thunderbird (for my wife, she loves them), and the remaining $100,000 I'll invest in a good balanced mutual fund.
The guy who wants to know about Ford pickup, get your hands on this months issue of Motor Trend, it describes Chevy's new line of SS's (Super Sports). The new SS pickup has more power and 2 wheel drive and a lower price than last years.
PS: Ford is building 3 Mustangs with 6's to each GT.

Chevrolet has been building an unadvertised, unbadged, version of the two-wheel drive SS since 2004. The "Silverado Performance Edition", a/k/a Silverado VHO, option code BV4, is a $3925.00 option on the LT 1500 series extended cab. Option BV4 includes the 6.0 liter High Output engine, high-perf. suspension, 20 inch wheels and tires, and other high-perf. items. The only way you can spot one is the 20 " chrome wheels and a "Vortec High Output" badge on the door. I have no idea why Chevrolet is so secretive about it. It is not listed in the regular sales lit. or on Chevrolet's website.
Chevrolet will shortly be offering a special Dale Earnhardt edition of the the two wheel drive SS truck. It only comes in black of course, and only 1,333 will be made.

Richard: If the horsepower is 345 then it's the same as the 2005 SS. Sounds like your way could bring the price under the stated $36,000 for the SS version. It would be interesting to see what kind of price you could come up with your option code BV4 on an extended cab.
They're saying there will be a new Trailblazer SS with 391 hp and a sticker for a 2 WD at $34,500. This is probably the same engine as the 2005 SSR. They claim 14 flat in the 1/4 for that one.

The horsepower of the Silverado VHO is 345. The problem with the VHO is that they are all built the same...except the color. They all have the LT trim (leather seats) and the electric sun roof plus all available options including the Climate Control-multi zone control a/c. The retail sticker is around $39.300.00...about the same as the all wheel drive SS with the LS trim (cloth seats). I believe the 2 wheel drive SS with LS trim would be around $36,000.00. The 2 wheel drive SS is supposed to be available now. Why doesn't Chevrolet advertise it? The all wheel drive SS will not be available in 2006. There is some talk of a regular cab SS in 2006. The 2 wheel drive SS and the VHO have a 3.73 rear end instead of the all wheel drive's 4.10

At 40k your a small step away from a V-10 Dodge. $36,500 plus for an extended cab Silverado with a 345hp motor comes under the heading of dumb. I'll go back to the Motor Trend article saying a 391hp 2WD Trailblazer will be available in the fall for $34,500. Skip it, for that money I'll go with a Duramax and Allison.

"....your a small step away from a V-10 Dodge"
Fran: your "small step" is almost $20,000.00. A 40k Silverado with discounts can be bought for a little over 30k...maybe less. A SRT-10 Dodge stickers for over 50k and around here that's what you will pay for it.

True. But PU's aren't my kind of car (truck). Good luck finding a Silverado so equipped for under 30k. How about a Ram extended cab with a himi?.
