Went to Indy for the Good Guys show. A lot of nice cars there, but the car count on the pit side seemed to me to be down. The pits were not crowded like they have been.
Was there to see the nostalgia Super Stock cars, and was with Jess Tyree and his B Gas car. I left last night to come home and work on my car to get ready for the Hot Rod Reunion next week.
When I left, Jess was qualified #3 in B Gas. 8.60 index, and he was 8.614. Tops was Tony Feil from NJ at 8.601, almost dead on.
Now for the best part, Allen George had his Blue Screamer bouncing all around his 11.0 index. And close. Eliminations came, and he drew a bye in the first round. I don't know if I saw all the rounds. Did see the last round. Allen drew the Sox & Martin Cuda. I thought this might be the end. But, the old guy ( I can say that as he is 2 months older than me ) came through. Allen treed the guy, and ran an 11.001. No way for the Sox car to catch up without breaking out. Which once again proves the addage that old age and cunning will prevail over youth and exuberance.
Congratulations to Allen George. What a show. And, it wasn't a gimme. Allen worked to get the car to run the number. Tuning and detuning till he got it right.
Way to go, Allen. :bow
