View Full Version : 90 camaro air bag light
Didn't know where else to post this, I have a 90 camaro that I swapped in a 350 where the 305 used to be and lately the air bag light stays on. Does anyone know where I should look to make it go out. I really hate messing with all of that computerized spaghetti bowl of wiring ,but now that I have the 63 Impala that I do NOT have to run through the smog test every 2 years I'd like to sell this camaro and not have to explain the air bag light. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Wow, I know nothing about new cars but... How about just removing the bulb? (if you can get to it without taking half the car apart) ;)
That is probably what is ultimately is going to happen,I thought there was a fuse or a sensor of some sort or some gizmo you could reset. You and I are thinking the same----New car, this thing is 13-14 years old! The best cars ever made was between 1955 and 1970!

Ed,
Have you tried asking on any Camaro sites? There may be an easier way like a wire or fuse but your gonna need someone that knows their way around the newer cars. Most of us here don't even know what an air bag is yet. :D We're lost in the 60's. :p
Now that I think of it, what exacty is the purpose of an air bag light? ;)
Well,it is supposed to tell you that there is some problem in the air bag system.I guess. This car has served me well for 11 years but if there was a weak area in this car it was the electrical system. I was going to try and make this car into something a little different until they p***ed me off at the smog station when I asked them when can I stop bringing it in for the stupid smog test,at which time they told me EVERYTHING back to 1967 has to be inspected. So I got a 63 and this one has to go,I don't have the room. Funny thing is if I lived ONE more county to the west there is no smog test! Can't modify too much before you break out of the smog parameters. I did post the question on CT and I got a very general reply, but I still don't know specifically where to go to fixit or disconnect it.:cuss

I didn't know they went back that far. Im lucky, here where I live there is no emission tests. We have an annual state inspection but no smog check. I have heard that some parts of my state (Pa) does have it though.
Just another reason to not buy a newer car. (not that I needed any) :)
I have an antique tag for the 409 so im exempt from everything on that one! No inspections...no yearly registraton fees, no emission tests (if they do come my way), nada, zip nothing. Just insurance and gasoline. :D
As for these emission tests, I talked with one of the local garage owners and he told me that most brand new cars wouldn't pass it. (of course, they are exempt until they are about 6 years old in most cases) He said that alot of the old cars run cleaner than the new ones.

A real GROANER!!!!!
Tried to talk my EX into going for a solo hot air balloon ride. Figured that would be the last we would ever see of her. As long as she talked, that balloon would NEVER come down. Perpetual motion! Just my luck. That day she got larengitis. Most times that's God's gift to man!
My luck has been so bad, that if they cut a woman in two, and gave me half, I'd get the half you have to FEED.
