what do you think? there's one thing that smacks me upside the head. i want to see if anyone cues in on it.

these folks really pis@ me off. i know this is a thread that has been covered many, many times but i just have to say it again. FOLKS THAT CLONE SS CARS and then try to pass them off as LEGIT should be made to drive a ford.

Good lookin car, The SS question really isn't a factor in my mind, car has been changed so much that it's pretty irrelevent what it started life out as ... :dunno

I agree with bigngad, If people want to hang badges, etc on their car, okay by me. The lines of a nice looking 62 speak for themselves. I do dislike the tall front seats in this car, but if thats what the guy wanted--------It is dishonest to mis-represent a vehicle,, but when buying , it is always ---Buyer beware.

do 62`s have the turned tailpanel like 63 ss`s? or are they just plain silver

i went a few weeks ago to look at a 63 ss h/t. guy wanted 13K, factory air car.
body was clean, but had reg inpala dash, tailpanel, sidetrim, even rear quarter emblems!

it did have buckets and console. written on the windshield in big letters was" factory supersport"

needless to say, the guy was pissed when i showed him everything wrong with the car.

sad part is, someone will buy this, and believe they got a ss

Tom. I once read a post from a guy that knows about this stuff and aparently there were some 62 SS models built without the swirled, engine turned, back panels. I think some assembly plants ran out of the swirled panels and used regular ones instead.

Everyone caught the emblem behind the grab bar. I thought I'd be able to get a couple of you. I have to agree with everyone on the merits of the car. It is a nice car and one that stands on its own. BUT with that said, the person selling it appears to be a dealer and there is no need to try and pawn it off on something its not. Why not just be honest? Does SS really add to the price that much? I guess as someone that was taken a few years back, it doesn't sit well.

I remember seeing the same thread about the trim. Was the SS package also a dealer installed option? I could definitely see some parts being omitted then.

You think it's not worth 45 000$? the reserve has to be lower... but prices for these cars are gooing crazy...

I've seen a 61 2DHT here in montreal, 42 000$CAD 348 3 2barrel carbs, not original! was a 4bbl originally and interior was redone in mauve velour...

"Dealer installed SS option in 1961 only. Any body style of the Impala."

The myth continues........... People continue to refuse to accept it but there was no such thing as a Dealer installed SS option. The dealers did add cosmetic items to make an Impala look like an SS but they did it on their own, there was no official option offered by Chevrolet.
