Oldie`s But Goodies Race !!

well the annual Oldie`s but Goodies race was this past weekend. Always a fun time as the cars are `65 and older. Lots of gassers and rails.
there were three 409s and met a few new friends!
Steve Gregory and his red `62 was flying pretty fast at a dial in of 11.69!!! Tried to get a shot of Steve launching but the batteries in the camera died just as he pulled to the line !!
Great guy and knows his stuff. Nice clean `09 running a single Holley on a stock manifold. Talk about some tricks to do for tuning that I`ll try next time out. I`m going to visit him soon to pick his brain and shoot the chit !
Drank a few beers:cheers and watched some great old cars.Lots of flatheads and two twinengine flathead dragsters !!
Weather was dark and rain theathen but only had one short down pour but didn`t dampen the show!!

Steve`s engine,,notice the strainer on top of the carb,,,,says it`s worth 2 tenths ,,LOL !!!! He`s got a 409 style humor !!!

DG, are the valve covers on Steve's car made by Lamar? If not do you know who made them?

That Alky sure does smell good, but it's much better with about 70% Nitro candy added. Then it smells REALLY GOOD. Works on the eyes better, too. Makes flames out the headers. Makes loud noises from the header pipes. Like gunshots. 8 GA, maybe. Only problem is it sometimes makes noises such as rods coming through cast iron. YUCKY NOISES. But when contained in adequate doses, Makes the quarter mile much shorter.:p Love that stuff:D Too bad it's not drinkable:eek:

Some real racing went on with the usual thrills !!! Only one wreck,,,A CLEAN `55 took a hard left at the end of the quarter ,at a mid 10 run,, and T-boned the wall!! Driver was OK just shaken,,,,
