Hi
We just purchased a 1962 bell air that was supposed to be Don NIcholsons car. I was just wondering if anyone had any info or knew any contacts to help me find some more history on the car.

There is more than one car. The last two were built in the early 90's when Nichilson was running exhibitions all over the country. Does the car have the crew listed on the deck lid? My brother in law was on his crew and barnstormed with him back then. They hooked up with Day Automotive while touring and having trouble with the car. I remember going to my bro-in-laws house and seeing the back-up car in his driveway while still being built. This was around 1989-90. White with red interior.....I have heard one car was sold and Nicholson may still have the other.

yes there are the pitcrews names on the decklid. If it is possible could you give your brother in laws name because than I can verrify if thats name is one of them. The dates seem to match too because this car was last dragged in the early 90's. Also if you could give me a call so i can figure out or verify some other things on the car.

My brother in law has left messages at the number listed....Is this the correct number? Also, he wants to know if there is a "thanks to.....Donnie Shafer " on the rear bumper?

Last time I saw Don race the car had a big block and I think a Lenco. Earl Wade had been crewing for him but $$ got tight and Earl stopped coming with. I have an 8X10 hand out from when he was match racing Beswick. Those guys could both back up after a huge smokey faster than I could drive forward. Congrats on your find. You have real history. Bob

it must have come on him fast and hard.
not long ago, Dyno was the first to sign my red 409 car's aircleaner lid. this was at the york us30 "legends of drag racing" reunion in '03. he seemed fine but tired, and he remembered me from the past. i have a famous uncle who raced don hundreds of times over the years in stockers, pro stockers, and funny cars. Don was not at the '04 or '05 show. i asked the people who brought him before, (the 422 motorsports team) and was told the bad news. apparently his daughter has him in california and he just stares out the window. (on a solid wall) damn shame.
i passed Don in carlisle once at the big swapmeet. asked him if he was "huntin for Z11 parts?" he said "no, just some stuff for my belair" this was probably 1990 or so.
