I've been thinking about upgrading to an overdrive manual trans for my 61 409. Its not a matching number car but I would like to use the original SS console, shifter and hump hole. I looked at TREMEC and Kesiler but they didn't have anything custom to the 61 or 62 big car. I'm running 3:73 rears and a M-21 with 27 inch tires.
Any thoughts? Thanks AZ 409

It's says "Also fits 60 to 64 Impala and Biscayne" Not sure about Bel Air or Nomad though :D :D :p
:( How come I couldn't find this link when I was looking for a Bellhousing ??? I spend over a month trying to find a 621 bellhousing for an affordable price and here is a brand new one for $199....

The TKP 500 and 600s have the ability to use different shifter setups. Some of the Pontiac guys have been using them with good luck putting the shifter in the exact console spot. I think there is a "classic chsvy 5 speed " site that has kits and has been very helpfull to the Pontiac guys. Jeff I believe. The TKOs are supposed to be pretty stout trannies also, more torque than a Muncie can handle as the torquey 455 Pontiac grenade those routinely.
Bowtie overdrives has a crossmember for OD auto trannies that might be easier to adapt than the factory one also.
