I have a 61 Bel Air that I just recently finished. Basically a stock 409 except 9.5 compresion and mild hydrauic cam with single four carb. After accumulating a thousand miles, I decide its time to have a little fun at the local drag strip. I mount a pair of drag radials on the back and head for the track. First attempt I try coming out at 3500 and encounter severe wheel hop. Next run I try 3000 and again encounter severe wheel hop. Finally I realize that I have to ease it off the line ,then about 30-40 feet out I can plant foot in radiator. I have rebuilt front and rear suspension with urethane bushings in all control arms, new Moog springs, gas shocks front and rear. I did not think I would encounter this problem, obviously I was wrong. Does this type of suspension require an air bag on one side? Is the second upper control upper control arm necesary? Any suggestions? I have a manual trans. and 4.10 positraction. I know DQ had the same problem, but not sure how he solved it. :cry

Check out my other post on the bags.....
IMO,,,,you need the bags. They come in pairs so install both using two air lines so you can mix and match the pressure.
I would also add that second upper arm. Contact Aubrey on that one. http://www.bruneauperformance.ca/

I installed the bags and running with the new sticky`s absolutely NO HOP !!!
Good luck,,dq

The bags are the cheapest and easiest way to cure your problem. Put about 45 lbs. in passenger side and 15 lbs in. drivers side. It will plant the tires good.:) Roy
