Over the winter I re-wired my ignition so that it has 12 guage wire from the switch to the HEI coil and to the starter silinoid (SP?). Will the ignition switch take/last the amount of amps that the HEI and the stater now get? Why I ask is that I have noticed that the darn starter silinoid will not engage some times during a cold start. I do not touch the gear shifter, so I know it is not the NSS. I have to push in on the key and wiggle it. The switch turns freely. Has the switch burned up because of the amps or is it just a 40 year old part wearing out? What do you think?

Stranger things can happen TomO, I had a problm with my 40 yr. old switch. It would start and run fine. The probelm was when I turned it off. It would stay running as if I never turned the key. I change the switch and eveything is fine.

Jester - The local auto parts house had the switch so I changed it out last night. I tested the old switch and it did have a bad spot in the solinoid position.
