water pump 409

I have located a 409 water pump with 2 1/2 inch spacing on the pump where the pulley bolts on. Whats the difference between this pump and one with a spacing of 1 1/2? Is this whats called a big bearing water pump?

Requires hard to find pulleys. Larar Walden sells a Bearing and shaft conversion for this pump housing.
