Hi all...I'm new to the site...not new to my favorite engine...that wonderful 409..It started when I was a little runt at my Aunt's Italian restaurant....on the old Seeburg at position B 3 was a song called 409...I was 7. I got bit.The first time I laid eyes on a real 409 was when I was 17....my buddies and I saw this forlorn 62 Impala which looked beat up and abandoned on a local street. Being the punks that we WERE we opened the hood and I just stared at those silver valve covers...I looked at the fender emblem and ..wow...a real 409...we were going to "borrow" the worn bucket seats but the owner came along and talked us out of it.I vowed to have one someday. In 1983 I bought my first...a white 61 Impala with a 2x4 409 built pretty healthy...it wasn't a real SS but it had all legit emblems on it and grab bar. This was before the emblems were repopped. It did not have the console plate,,,it was quick, and broke many a center support bearing...I sold it and bought a project 62 Belair HT 409..a real project..it took me 8 years to complete it...when it was done it was an unbelievable show car that won wherever it went. While it was under restoration I did a stroker with some parts from CH quite a few years ago...put it in a legit low mile 64 Impala SS 327/300 horse all original car...silver/black vinyl top...it was an animal...I sold it and I heard it went out east somewhere.....if anyone knows of it...I have the buildsheet and wire caps from the car and would gladly re unite them..A year ago I sold my beloved 62...it was never driven and I didn't have the heart to get it dirty..which is no fun.Its still winning wherever it shows up I'm proud to say.I went away from my first love which is 409 Chevs..I have Chevelles and a Camaro...but there was always an empty spot....well not anymore....so I'm gonna hang around ,learn some more, and enjoy my favorite car once again...
