Does anyone know of a company that makes drag shocks for the front and back of X-frame cars or if shocks from other year vehicles, that are readily available ,will work on X-frame cars?

Gerry, I have a set on my car that are made by Lakewood. Application is actually for 55-57. No problem....they just have a slightly shorter extended length.

I can't remember whom made them, but they were refered to as two different shocks front to rear.
The different numbering was the rates of movement from center (50/50) up (90) to down (10) on fronts, down to up on rears. I remember they'd custom tailor the foot valves for different rates if you wished them.
Fronts were 90/10 Up-rides, had the damping set to allow 90 percent upwards movement, 10 percent down sack, helped to keep the front end up in the air on acceleration.
Rears were 70/30 Down-rides, allowed the rear to squat 70 percent on launch easily, then rose back up 30 percent.
All this valving was th hold the suspension for more added weight transfer front to back, to aid traction. Set to allow the car to rise and hold in the front, squat and hold in the rear.

Just the front, Gerry. The rear can be substituted with the shocks from the 65-70 full size, but they will limit travel by about 2 inches. Good with a one oiece driveshaft, but a bear to R&R the tires !
classic performance parts has the shocks you are looking for
