Talked about the 62' SS since I bought it in January 2005. Hope I loaded the pictures OK.
Aside from a current starter problem and tranny work required..."she runs real fine...but its not a 409". Former owner put 409 valve cover stickers on. :nono1:
Much thanks to all that have helped me with diagnosis of technical problems, much knowledgable advise, and even parts! Bunch of classy guys here! :bow
Again....not sure if I've loaded these pictures properly; If not.... I'll try to re-submit another time.

The car looks great and the pictures are great... I only have one question ? If it's not a "409" what is it ? Sure looks like a "409" in the engine compartment....

NUTS....its a 250HP-348. Suffix code ends in G. Dipstick on the driver's side. Heads are 379's. Former owner painted silver over top chevy orange valve covers. I was told by the second owner... that the first owner blew up the original 409. .....Could have been a "line" :takethat ....but..... there are various tell-tale signs of prior existance of 409 or Hi-performance 327 for this car.
I hope to either alter to a 348 stroker or I will replace it with a 409 in the future.
Kinda torn about altering the 348 though. It may be better off in vehicle that came with a 348.
Models916...I had a 170HP - 283 in my first 62' before I replaced it with a 327. Sold the 283. BTW that engine totalled over 225,000 miles after it got transplanted into another chevy. It was driven to the wreckers.
