64 QP 409

Hello all. I just joined this site. My grandpa is the one with the impala though. Here is some pics of his car. It is currently going under a complete body off resto. It is a 64 Impala SS numbers matching 409/425 car. Car is silver/black. What makes this car real rare is the fact of it being a QP 409 with the Transistorized igintion. Car is a completely numbers matching car. Car came factory equped with 4.56's, padded dash, radio delete, tilt steering, power steering, and a bunch of other options. The car has 39,000 orig. miles. It had been parked in a barn since 1972 and needed soem work. The trunk pan had a few little rust spots, so the entire pan was replaced. Frame as well as most the suspension has all been powdercoated, has date coded glass, rebuilt orig. starter, alt., water pump, etc.... Motor has been professionally rebuilt using the std. bore as it was still within spec. Getting ready to hang the front end on the car tomorrow. Interior is going to be finished soon, then it will be put in the car. The valve covers and air cleaner are off at the chrome shop right now, so in the pics, the are not done.

Welcome. I am relatively new to this site also. Your project looks awsome. Is that your shop? Looks like a nice place to work. I noticed that your fuel line is running under the controll arm. I have a 63 Impala that I put a 09 in. It was a 283 car. When I restored it I ran a 3/8 fuel line along the same route, on top of the rail. Is the fuel line on the 64 correct and would it be the same for a 63? I am always learning something new on this site. Here is a picture of my sweetie.
