A quick intro. I've been into the car scene, probably like most of you, since I was about 14. Living in the U.K, American cars weren't that easy or cheap to get hold of, so I cut my teeth on aircolled VW's. I've owned a fair few, had a couple magazine featured, and won a few trophys. This year I turned 40, and decided that if I was ever going to own my dream car, I'd better do something about it! So, with the help of ebay(!!) I purchased a 40 Ford Deluxe Tudor Sedan in Minnesota, and had it shipped to England. It's a builder tho', all stock, not much floor, doesn't run, interior and paint are shot, but it's the only way I could afford to get into one. Now the fun starts, which way do I go with it? I've already got a complete I beam front end, thanks to the guys at Posies, really helpfull bunch. I'm probably going with a 9 inch rear on parralel leaf springs, but an engine is the sticking point. 350 Chevy's have been done to death, but parts are cheap and plentifull. I'm also thinking Ford power (put a ford in a ford), but those 302's sure have ugly valve covers! And that brings me to the W motors. I've always liked the look of them, so I'm here to find out more. Please be patient with me, I'm a bit green to all this V8 stuff. Oh, and I still have a few v-dubs, they get in the blood!

You bought a car right from the "rustbelt".
the car enthusiasts here in minnesota look for cars from the southern part of the country with a dryer climate.
Although on occaision you will find a decent car in the northwest too.
good luck on your project.

Welcome Neil. :cheers

I had 4 VW's in my younger years. (each took a pounding in one way or another!) Sold my last one off in the 80's but sure had fun with 'em. :p

The guys here can teach you anything you need to know about the big W's. :D

Yeh droptop62, I was a bit worried when I saw pictures of the car surrounded by snow, but the guy told me that he brought it from West Virginia, apparantly a dry state. It had been outside for a fair few years though, and it rains just about everywhere at some time. Hey, if it had been in the U.K the last 60 years, there'd be nothing left!

Bob, it's amazing how many peopls have had VW's in the past. I look at a couple of hotrod forums, one the H.A.M.B, and the other is the english NSRA, all die hard hotrodders, but many of them have had or still own VW's. I've still got my first car, a 1954 Oval window bug. It's been a very long term project, like 20 years, but it will get done one day. Easy to get side tracked on other cars, family etc, now the 40's here, I'm not sure when I'm gonna get to it!
