64 impalla ss 409 info

I am having trouble locating the axle code on the rearend housing is it on the top or front side of the passenger side tube. If anyone is really good on looking at photos and telling what is right and wrong please email me I need help with one.

Drivers tube ..facing front...close to lower control arm mounts is where I found it...put glasses on and wire brush the hell out of it

My Flint car is on the front of drivers side tube...better check both sides.

I have the original 3.36 carrier out of my car now and can not find any stampings in the usual place, front pass side on the cast iron. I did not check axle tubes. Were some 64's stamped on the tubes? Mine is a Janesville car.

To go back and clarify what I was trying to say...:doh . My carrier is coded too but the tube is also coded...I believe this started in 64 and continued on...

My car was also from janesville and I found the number on the drivers side front axle tube
