Hi guys, I'm a "newby". Hopefully I will learn to navigate this site as I'm a big fan of the 409 engine. You can see an example of my work at http://classicads.greatoldcars.com/classifieds.php?a=2&b=1786
I am now restoring a 56 chevy pick-up that I would love to put a 409 into.
I am 50 years young and early retired. Making a living on rental properties and my private airport now. Gives me lots of time for restoration projects.
Hopefully soon I will be restoring a 409 and I will be needing your advice and knowledge.

dunhamfield, Welcome to this site. Your example is first-rate. There are several members who have 348-409 engines in their older trucks. No doubt some will suggest to you certain threads to view that will help. There are also a couple of Houston members who you will also come to meet. You will enjoy being a member here.

I like your "theme" on the 1951 PU, the "John Deere look" :).

But my favorite part was your quip: "I am 50 years young and early retired", which made we wonder why I wasn't similarly established! That has become my new goal in life, to be "early retired" but as each year goes by, it doesn't seem to happen. So I'll focus on the "xx years young" part for now...

Welcome to the "club", it's a great collection of young and old(er) guys (no women as yet, but one never knows) who offer lots of advise and ocassionally get together for events and such. Collectively this group has more experience with the 348/409 than any one individual, and you will greatly benefit from this expertise should you tap into it. We look forward to future contributions from you as we move forward (and get older!).

Best,
TomK

I may not have my name on the site but after all I am 51% of Boat Anchor Racing and I have always felt like I was part of this site. If you remember, I was at Norwalk and YES I did drive the rail with the "409" for several passes that weekend and YES, I wrench on the car as well as crew chief when I'm not driving. :takethat I don't have long finger nails but am proud of the grease under them and the scraped knuckles I have acquire from working on 409 engines. Now if Tony would let me have my way, the '62 would accompany the rail to our next gathering. Then all I can say is, bring it to the line and we'll see who's who and what's what !!:rofl :rofl
Be careful what you write here - you never know who will be reading these:dunno Look for my name as a full member in the future....JUST TO MAKE IT OFFICIAL :deal

Atta Girl, Bonnie, You tell em. And I don't want to be across the start line from you. I think we do have a female on line at times. Valerie McComb said she was a member, and has a pretty darn fast 409. Knows how to drive it, too.

Bonnie, My wife cheered when she read your post. She especially liked the "51%" line. Looking forward to meeting you and your hubby in 2006.

Bonnie, my deepest apologies!

Yes, I do remember you from Norwalk, but please forgive me for the error in not noting you as a "clubbie" :). I stand corrected! I guess I was thinking about "handles" and those who post to the site. It has been mostly males. Glad to learn that you lurk often and are considering your own "identity" within the 348/409 Forum.

Next time we meet I owe you a beverage of choice, but I hope I do not have to line up against you in either the rail or the '62!!! I have never taken the quarter mile, and probably will cough and spit a few times before I get it figured out. You'd probably already be back in the staging lanes while I was trying to figure out how to get off the track :) :) :).

And I'm glad to learn that there are other females out there who participate in the excitement we share. Can't wait to hear more from them as well.

Cheers!
TomK
