I was told they wouldn't last but what is one to do when fixing up a car, leave old crappy handles on? The repro outer door handles I put on the 66 are showing some tiny pits here and there and I know this is only the beginning! :bang (had the same thing happen on my 69 stepside, they are now a complete mess!)

So far, the repro mirror is holding up but I guess that will go yet too. :cry

A friend of mine who I bought the car from (also a member here) put repro's on his '65 and told me that his pitted and his car never leaves the garage!

Mine has been outside and they lasted 4 months. That's sad....

Had another bit of good news today too. The mint condition brown dash pad in my 72 Chevelle that I babied for the past 10 years now has a split running down the middle! We had temps around 0 here lately, I guess that's what finally did it to the 33 year old dash pad.

I'm not looking any further, afraid I might find something else...:cuss

Tape that baby up and cover it with some quilted velour. That will keep it looking 70ish.

Ya' know, if you were to shave the handles and mirror(s) you wouldn't have this problem. ;)

Instead of buying chinese repo and supporting the china malitia use this guy

not cheap but the original parts are better then the repo and can fill in and rechrome or polish just about anything stainless or aluminum
