65-66 impala frames

hello, i hope somebody here can shed some light on this. i have a few 66 impalas, i have seen two differently constructed frames. basicly the rear sections are welded with different pieces. the books list one part number, my question is are they just from different plants, or mid year re-design. i kept this short if you need more info or pictures i would be happy to send. thanks in advance Bob

Some of the 1965s had weak frames. I lived up North in the snow belt back then and started seeing '65s in the salvage yards in about 1969 with broken frames due to corrosion damage. I've been told that when the '65 Caprice came out in the mid-65 model year they had a new stronger, less flexible frame and it was carried over to the 66 cars. I don't know if that is true but the '66s did have a stronger frame.
